VDO Gauges

Alpina offered supplemental gauges for select Alpina models throughout the 80's and 90's. The gauges were manufactured by VDO and consisted of a computer, digital display, and associated wiring and sensors.

On Switchtronic cars, the following parts are used:

• Digital display with gear indicator (Digitalanzeige mit Ganganzeige) - 6210142
• Display computer (Auswertelektronik) - 6210143
• Wiring harness (Kabelbaum) - 6111071
• Switch-tronic wiring harness (Kabelbaum) - 6111108
• Gear indicator computer (Ganganzeige Elektronik) - 6210144

On manual transmission cars, the following parts are used:

• Digital display with voltage indicator (Digitalanzeige mit Voltanzeige) - 6210139
• Display computer (Auswertelektronik) - 6210141
• Wiring harness (Kabelbaum) - 6111071

Both used the same connectors with several unused pin positions
Both used D8749HC microcomputer chips by NEC with firmware loaded depending on the whether the car is Switch-tronic or Manual
Both used PD7001 analog to digital converters by NEC
Differences to the board:

• Switch-tronic computer has 1 additional resistor and 2 additional wires to feed power and ground to connector pins
• Manual computer has 1 additional resistor (12.3k Ohm)

Firmware:
